The NBA Top Shot mobile app release on the Apple Store and Google Play during the 2023 NBA Playoffs is the beginning of Dapper Labs transition to a mobile-first platform.
Dapper Labs NBA Top Shot, an NFT marketplace where sports fans can buy, sell and trade basketball video clip digital collectibles, announced that its app is now available in the Apple Store and the Google App Store. However, NBA fans better act fast. The mobile app launch time period is only during the 2023 NBA playoffs.
Test Flight wait list in February
Dapper Labs first trialed a limited version of the app to select collectors via Test Flight in February, but there was a wait list, and the app didn’t have all of its features. The company is now providing access to all collectors during the NBA Playoffs.
Dapper Labs is transforming into a Mobile-First Web3 Company
The native apps aim to make it easier for NBA Top Shot users to access and purchase digital collectibles on the go. However, it is the first step in the company’s transformation into a mobile-first Web3 company for creator Dapper Labs, which developed the Flow blockchain and also has platforms such as NFL All Day and UFC Strike.
Dapper Labs will release a limited version of the app at first. Users will be able to view their own collection of NBA Top Shot NFTs, see platform activity, be notified of drops and purchase a starter pack of NFT moments. More features will be added in the future.

According to Jennifer van Dijk, Senior VP of Sports Partnerships at Dapper Labs, Apple and Google appear very interested in exploring this space with the right partners and experiences.
NBA Top Shot, which was released in 2020, is a collaboration between the NBA and Dapper Labs, the creators of CryptoKitties. NBA legend Michael Jordan as well as current NBA superstars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are among the notable investors.
