The UFC has partnered with DraftKings to launch an interactive NFT collection. The DraftKings UFC NFTs will allow fans to build a collection of UFC fighters that will allow them to participate in fantasy sports.
DraftKings UFC collection starts with Adensanya Vs Cannonier
According to a press release, the initial UFC NFTs will drop as DraftKings’ “Heatwave Collection”. The NFTs will be based around this summer’s UFC events schedule. It all begins with the July 2nd match between Israel Adesanya and Jared Cannonier. Earlier this year, UFC President Dana White said he was excited about the impact NFTs have had so far for the UFC.
This new agreement gives DraftKings access to fighter IP from over 500 different active UFC athletes. NFT holders will receive perks that include access to “special” daily fantasy contests. In addition, fans can participate in these contests for a chance to win cash, custom merch, and more.
“UFC has been a tremendous collaborator over the years,” said Beth Beiriger, SVP of Product Operations for DraftKings Marketplace. “Fight fans are already among the most engaged audiences, and we see these immersive technologies as bolstering the unique sports entertainment ecosystem we provide for consumers while also rewarding their undeniable passion.”
Currently, DraftKings is developing the exclusive Reignmakers UFC game. Once launched, it will have features such as missions, achievements, level-ups, and leaderboards.
DraftKings NFT Marketplace
A digital sports entertainment and gaming company, DraftKings’ products range from daily fantasy sports to regulated gaming and digital media. Launched in 2012, the company offers sports betting and gaming technologies. In 2021, the company launched DraftKings Marketplace, a digital collectibles marketplace for curated NFT drops. Buffalo Bill quarterback Josh Allen launched his NFTs on the DraftKings Marketplace earlier this month.
As the world’s leading mixed martial arts organisation (MMA), UFC’s partnership with DraftKings will help connect fans with their favorite fighters. Previously, UFC released NFTs with Dapper Labs.
