LaMelo Ball NFT, Digital Goods & AR/VR Experiences Planned As He Jumps Into The Metaverse

The Charlotte Hornets star point guard filed three trademarks on February 15th to take his place in Web 3.

It’s been a big week for LaMelo Ball. The Charlotte Hornets sensation scored 18 points in his first NBA All-Star Game appearance as a member of Team Durant. In doing so, he also became the first Puma athlete named to the All-Star roster since Isiah Thomas in 1990.

As noted by attorney Josh Gerben of Gerben Intellectual Property, MB1 Enterprises, LLC filed three trademark applications on February 15th, with the US Patent and Trademark Office for “LAMELO BALL,” “1 OF 1,” and “M.E.L.O.” The trademark applications cover a wide range of virtual and physical goods and services that will allow Ball to make his presence known in the metaverse. These goods include a wide range of products – everything from art to apparel, trading cards to NFTs and more.

The move is only the latest in off-court efforts for the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year, who also announced the launch of his gaming and esports brand MB1 in late January.
