AS Roma forward Paulo Dybala is the new brand ambassador for Web3 football game MonkeyLeague. The news follows the recent announcement that the reigning Italian champions AC Milan had partnered with the Solana-based NFT game.
As MonkeyLeague’s new brand ambassador, Paulo will spearhead various forthcoming co-marketing and promotional events. The star striker will also playtest the game itself ahead of its much-anticipated release. In addition, Paulo will star as one of the titles officially licensed NFTs.
MonkeyLeague’s new brand ambassador has previously been named Serie A’s most valuable player and has won the top Italian league five times and the Coppa Italia four times.
Nicknamed “La Joya” — or “the jewel,” in his native Spanish — Paulo is a serious treasure for both club and country. The 28-year-old Argentine forward has scored 160 goals in his career so far.
The prolific striker Paulo, also a keen gamer, said: “With a deep appreciation of gaming, esports, and champion teams, I am excited to partner with MonkeyLeague, a leader in Web3 esports gaming. Together, we will bring MonkeyLeague and Web3 esports to the masses.”
AC Milan players will also playtest the game
Bringing Paulo onto the MonkeyLeague squad comes only weeks after the Web3 soccer game announced its first major professional football partnership — current Italian Serie A champions AC Milan.
Like Paulo, AC Milan will test the game, be design partners for the in-game assets, sponsor esports tournaments, and participate in co-marketing events. Last year AC Milan released sports first ever “In Game” NFTs during a match with AS Roma. The NFTs launched on Socios.com.
On October 6th, MonkeyLeague kicked off its historic partnership by auctioning 16 limited edition MonkeyPlayer NFTs that pay homage to AC Milan’s celebrated ’93/’94 and ’95/’96 teams.
The collection sold out on the Solana NFT marketplace Magic Eden with the highest one purchased for 179 SOL — or around $6,086 as per SOL price on October 6th.

MonkeyLeague and Paulo will team up on upcoming NFT drops for game assets like limited edition MonkeyAthletes and Stadiums.
In addition, Paulo will headline one of MonkeyLeague’s upcoming breeding seasons, a feature that allows Monkey NFT holders to breed them together to create new MonkeyAthlete NFTs for the game franchise.
During the Paulo Dybala season, Dybala traits will randomly come out of newly minted Monkeys. Additionally, MonkeyLeague and Paulo will also work closely on promoting the releases of the game.
MonkeyLeague is a web3 strategy football game deployed on the Solana network with scheduled releases of initial game versions set to start by the end of 2022.
In the game, fans can build their dream team of MonkeyAthlete NFTs that fill the field positions, compete against real players, and climb the ranks.
